2014
The Work Begins
The idea of a digital sleep monitor is conceived, and we commence research and development.
2017
First Prototype
Vitalthings is established, and the first prototype of Somnofy comes to life.
2018
Somnofy in Research
We receive funding from Innovation Norway, and collaboration with Olympiatoppen Norway and global companies commences. Development of precise algorithms for contactless sleep analysis begins.
2019
Somnofy in Healthcare
Somnofy is adopted as a digital night guard in nursing homes and eldercare. Continuous sleep analysis, monitoring of restlessness, and breathing with Somnofy provide safety for both residents and personnel.
2020
Validation of Somnofy Published in Sleep Medicine
Somnofy demonstrates accuracy close to polysomnography (PSG) for sleep phase mapping. Researchers state that this is the most precise tool in the market for contactless sleep analysis.

Progress in Medical Approval
To enhance patient safety, Vitalthings initiates the process of obtaining full medical approval for both the company and the product.
Validation of OSAS diagnosis is published
Vitalthings' technology shows significant potential for future contactless obstructive sleep apnea diagnosis. Read the publication in the Journal of Sensors here. here.
2021
Initiation of Clinical Trials as Medical Equipment
Vitalthings and Helse Nord-Trøndelag begin testing the technology as medical equipment. The study extends into the CPAP phase of treatment and is still ongoing.
2022
Vitalthings Collaborates with St. Olavs Hospital
Vitalthings wins the prestigious Autoskår project contract, issued by St. Olavs Hospital. Together, they are developing the future patient monitor for respiration monitoring and various other parameters.
2023
Vitalthings is ISO 13485:2016 certified
