Guardian View is a new distributed alarm system that provides healthcare staff with a real-time overview and enables resource-efficient patient monitoring, whilst helping to combat alarm fatigue. Several hospitals in Norway and Germany are already ready to start using the new solution.
Guardian View
- A distributed alarm system offering real-time information and alarm management for up to 20 patients, all displayed on a single screen.
- Supplied as a dedicated application pre-installed on a 21.5-inch touchscreen.
- The system can be wall-mounted or placed on a table stand, and has a built-in battery backup in the event of a power cut.
- Guardian View also offers the option of connecting via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- Guardian View is classified as a medical device accessory and is CE-marked in accordance with MDR Class IIb.
Guardian View has been developed by Vitalthings in close collaboration with clinicians. The system is classified as a medical device accessory and is CE-marked in accordance with MDR Class IIb. Guardian View will provide access to both real-time information and alerts from Vitalthings’ Guardian platform, initially the Guardian M10 contactless patient monitor, which is currently in use in hospitals.
– By bringing clinical data and alerts together in a single user interface, we reduce the complexity for healthcare professionals. The aim is to simplify patient monitoring and combat alarm fatigue, which is a widespread problem, says Ole Kristian Forstrønen Thu, Chief Medical Officer at Vitalthings.
Guardian View will provide a real-time overview and alerts, with the option of direct alarm handling for up to 20 patients, all displayed on a single screen. The solution will send ‘silent alarms’ to avoid unnecessary noise, and make it possible to assess a patient’s condition without having to enter their room every time.
- Guardian View is an important milestone for us, and the next step in the direct implementation of our platform strategy. We are building an integrated ecosystem in which each new service will enhance the value of the whole. “With this solution, we are well positioned to scale further in the European market,” says Vitalthings CEO Bård Benum.
One cost-benefit-analysis A study by Menon Economics shows that Vitalthings’ technology can deliver a demonstrable return on investment within 12–18 months and could potentially save the Norwegian healthcare system over 13 billion kroner annually if implemented across the board. One mini-methodological review In three Norwegian municipalities, significant benefits have been confirmed in terms of patient safety, the working environment and operating costs.
Guardian View is the next step in helping to realise this potential, both in hospitals and local authorities seeking scalable solutions for patient care.
